The Peppermill Bistro is a family-run independent bistro located on Station Road in Billingham which opened its doors in 2013.
What’s Going On?
Although it was only opened in 2013, the family are not new to the restaurant game and have over 50 years of combined experience, which is one of the key reasons behind The Peppermill Bistro’s success since opening. John, the owner, and chef, grew up in Billingham and has worked in various different hotels, restaurants, and pubs, including 20 years, most of these as Head Chef, at the well-established Norton Hall. His wife, Angela, also works in the bistro along with daughter Lisa and son-in-law Ian…so as you can see, when we say it’s family-run, we’re not kidding!
Together they have created a welcoming bistro that is passionate about creating a dining experience that lasts long in the memory and will leave you coming back for more. Conscious about supporting other local businesses, they use local produce as much as possible, with suppliers in Billingham, Middlesbrough, Sedgefield, and Whitby. This results in the freshest ingredients possible and allows The Peppermill Bistro to create wonderful seasonal menus, along with specials that change weekly depending on what local produce is available.
They beautifully cook their dishes from scratch, even the bread and ice cream are homemade, this attention to detail really shines through and ensures customers always leave with a smile on their face. In fact, it’s the type of place where you already have your eye on something from the menu leaving you eagerly planning your next visit. Vegans will also be happy to hear there is an entirely vegan menu that is available to pre-order, so be sure to ask them about it! Likewise, if you have any other dietary requirements, just let them know and they will happily accommodate!
